`Adequate facilities for cancer treatment in Malabar area'

Thiruvananthapuram: Health Minister P K Sreemathi today said the government had put in place all facilities for cancer treatment in the Malabar Cancer Centre at Thalassery for patients from the Malabar area. Another centre for cancer treatment would be opened at Mavoor in Kozhikode soon, she said, replying to questions in
    the assembly.

She said the medical colleges in the state currently did not have dearth of doctors. The department was planning to
send technicians abroad for special training as new equipment had been installed in medical college hospitals, especially at
    Thiruvananthapuram medical college hospital.

The CT and MRI scan facilities in all medical colleges were functioning round the clock, she said.

The Minister said the Medical Council of India had already approved the increase of 150 medical seats in Thrissur
    and Alappuzha medical colleges. PTI
